Analysis
AT&T’s performance has been awesome in the last few quarters but I will not give the credit to their Network or Technology Team. I would better give it to the business leader who made the exclusive deal with Apple’s iPhone possible. Most of the data services are available on 2G and 3G Smart Phones only.
Apple iPhone is the most widely used Smart Phone in the World, and is hugely successful in the United States. AT&T enjoys being the sole company to serve iPhone. With the deal, iPhone is sold has much discounted price and Apple gets a share of the revenue from the subscribers of its use from AT&T on monthly basis. The deal is widely criticized, and most analysts believe Apple didn’t do justice by going with a company having sub-standard network quality.
But the result for both the companies is awesome. Apple iPhone was made cheap with the deal, and its sales soared to a good height. Only recently launched Motorola Droid phone (powered with Google’s Android 2) is supposed to be iPhone’s serious competitor in terms of technology and ease of use.
